Meriam Library is proud to be a destination in the travelling exhibit for Book in Common author Clint Smith. In his book How the Word is Passed, Smith reckons with the history of slavery across America, as well as opens up a conversation about this underexplored topic in our collective history. Smith asserts that “our country is in a moment, at an inflection point, in which there is a willingness to more fully grapple with the legacy of slavery, and how it shaped the world we live in today.”
The provocative posters will be displayed on the second floor of the library to preserve Smith's powerful message following his April 11 performance in Laxson Auditorium. The exhibit was created collaboratively with 27 students in HFA and BSS. The display will be available for viewing April 12 through May 20 on the second floor of the Meriam Library near the Innovation Lab.
