The Meriam Library has been given trial access to Social Explorer. Social Explorer is a database that uses several demographic datasets to enable the exploration of demographic information through tables and maps. Users can create a visual representation of demographic information through maps, and use them to create presentations. Current datasets include the complete U.S. Census from 1790-2010, the entire American Community Survey from 2005-2011 with annual updates, Infogroup data on religious congregations from 2009 and 2010, Religious Congregations and Member Survey from 1980-2010, and carbon emissions data from 2002. More datasets will soon be added.
