The Wildcat Family Friendly Study Space (WFFSS) is located on the fourth floor of the Meriam Library adjacent to the Juvenile Collection. The WFFSS is arranged for students, staff, and faculty who need to use library resources while caring for a younger family member. Meriam Library is happy to support students who are parenting, or family caregivers who desire a family-friendly space located centrally in the heart of campus. The WFFSS is equipped with child sized furniture, table, chairs, and an interactive oversized rug.
The WFFSS is a flexible space and multiple families may use the space at the same time. Please do not leave a child unattended while using the WFFSS. Guardians are responsible for their children’s safety and behavior and all library users must comply with the Meriam Library Public Use Policy.
The Children’s and Young Adult Collection is close to this space so children can read and explore the collection independently or with their caregivers. Children need to see themselves represented in our children's and young adult collection, and we are dedicated to building a collection that highlights the identities of diverse communities. The Curriculum Collection is also located in this area that provides learning materials and kits for children to explore, and can be checked out by patrons. Any books or materials used from the fourth floor that were not checked out should be placed on the reshelving table when you are finished using the WFFSS.
Meriam Library also has two Children’s Learning tablets, available for check out at the Innovation Lab on the second floor with a Wildcat ID. The learning tablets are available for four-hour loans. Please check availability by clicking the links Landscape and Star. Tablets need to be returned to the Innovation Lab.
