Electrical Shutdown, June 8 - 10, 2012

All buildings on the south side of campus, including Meriam Library, will experience an electrical shutdown during the weekend of June 8 - 10.

A few reminders from Facilities Management:

1. To avert possible damage to sensitive electrical equipment all computers and electrical equipment must be turned off prior to the shutdown.

2. This notice should be communicated to all building occupants, department heads, faculty and staff members.

3. No occupancy of the buildings will be permitted during this time.

Library In Motion

The Meriam Library has multiple summer projects in motion, many of which will be on-going through August, and perhaps into early September.

In early June, the offices of InterLibrary Services (ILS) will be moving from their home on 2nd floor to 1st floor and blending with Circulation/Reserve.  As part of this relocation, ILS will also be taking on all internal library mail services through the MLIB 107/107A complex, located just inside the southwest staff entrance.

Filtered Water Bottle Filler Installed

The Meriam Library has installed a filtered water bottle filler on 1st floor in the Laptop Lounge, MLIB 130.  The filler is attached to the water fountain on the south wall by the photo-copy machines and is designed to accommodate small- to medium-sized water bottles.

Network Outage March 19th

Due to a campus network upgrade, on March 19th the Library will lose Internet access for most of the day. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

New Net-Study Rooms

The Library and ITSS received funding from the Student Learning Fee to create three new Net-Study Rooms in MLIB 354, MLIB 363, and MLIB 260. Additionally we have created a fourth Net-Study Room in MLIB 259. Net-Study Rooms include tables equipped with power access, a computer and LCD monitor, and whiteboards. Unlike the study rooms on the 1st floor, the Net-Study Rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors are first come, first served, and cannot be reserved. Please be considerate of your fellow students and only use the Net Study rooms for collaborative group work.

Government Documents on the Move

The Meriam Library's Federal and California Document collections are in the process of being updated, consolidated and streamlined.  Over the next several months the collections will be modified and shifted to the west, with the sorting area for all government documents moved to the southwestern corner of the 4th floor near the restrooms.  Should you experience any difficulty finding a government document, please feel free to ask for assistance at the Circulation desk in the library's lobby.
