Westlaw has a new look! The Westlaw interface has been updated and re-branded as WestlawNext.
The Meriam Library subscribes to the Campus Version of WestlawNext which provides the content legal students need to become proficient in legal research. The only difference between WestlawNext and the previous version of Westlaw is the interface, the content is exactly the same. In WestlawNext you will find:
Several changes in the Meriam Library have taken place this summer to upgrade study space and improve the look and research atmosphere of the building. To further these goals, several collections were consolidated, reconfigured and/or relocated.
The Meriam Library's public elevator bank will receive a much needed remodel this summer, beginning Monday May 19 and continuing through Friday August 8. During the project, all three of the public elevators will be out of service. Patrons are encouraged to follow the maps in the main lobby and use the five sets of stairs in the building to access the upper floors. The Library's staff elevator, located in the southwest section of the Student Computer Lab, will have limited availability for basement access and for mobility-challenged patrons.
As part of the the campus Library Envisioning process, the Meriam Library will be hosting two (2) Student Focus Groups on the Library of the Future: Wednesday November 13 and Monday November 18. Both sessions will be from 4:00 - 6:00 pm, in MLIB 205. Sign-ups for either session will be at the small desk in the library's lobby. Group size limit is 25 per session.

The recent federal government shutdown is affecting access to government supported databases and research information usually available through the Meriam Library. While some sites are completely down, such as census.gov, other sites may provide limited access. For help, please Ask a Librarian. The Meriam Library is pleased to announce extended weekend hours for the Fall Semester. The library will be open for ten additional hours each week: closing at 7:45pm on Friday, opening at 10am and closing at 7:45pm on Saturday, and opening at 10am on Sunday. These additional hours are in part thanks to U-Course, which will be using the entire 4th Floor on Fridays from 5-7:45pm and Saturday mornings from 10am-noon. While the 4th floor will be closed to anyone not enrolled in the U-Course, the lower three floors will be open to everyone during that time.
The Meriam Library's 1st floor Laptop Lounge has reopened after being damaged from flooding after a water line break. There are plans in place for the Lounge to be redesigned and upgraded during the Winter Break 2013-14.

Due to damage from a serious water leak, the Meriam Library's Laptop Lounge (130) and Vending area (135) will be closed until repairs can be completed.

The Federal and State Government Documents collections on 4th floor are in the process of being shifted and compacted to make room for more student seating and powered tables on the south bridge. If you're looking for a Government Document and can't locate it, please ask a student employee on the shift or inquire at the Circulation desk in the library's lobby for assistance. The shift should be complete before the beginning of Fall semester classes (August 26).
