Local Historical Newspapers Now Online

The Meriam Library is pleased to offer access to historical local newspapers on Digital Reel. All available Butte County newspapers on microfilm have been scanned and digitized and are now online. The content includes a variety of titles beginning with the Butte Record (1851) and continuing with The Chico Enterprise and Chico Record through December 1922. Issues later than 1922 are still available on microfilm.

Research and Subject Guides Updated

The Meriam Library is in the process of updating and modernizing our Research and Subject guides - the popular subject, course, and topic guides created by librarians and staff at the Meriam Library. These guides help patrons locate articles, books, and other research as well as assist in evaluating information, assessing research credibility, and citing. The transfer from the old guides to the new guides will happen on Thursday, January 21st.

Scheduled Maintenance

Chancellor Office Data Center Relocation Beginning Friday evening, Jan 8th at 9pm, thru Sunday, Jan 10, the Chancellor's Office will be performing maintenance to relocate their production data center.

Interactive Technology Spaces Now Open

Meriam Library is pleased to announce the opening of our new Interactive Technology Spaces. The rooms are located on the east side of 2nd Floor, near the beginning of the periodicals collection. They provide a private place for students to collaborate with others using a giant shared computer screen, work on creative design projects, and eventually rehearse for presentations or speeches.

The Collaborative Technology Space features a 70" AQUOS BOARD with a touchscreen Windows display and digital whiteboard software.

Coffee delivered while you study!

Need a late night boost while studying in Meriam Library? Common Grounds in the nearby BMU will be open until 11pm between December 8th - 17th.

What's better is that you don't even need to leave the library to get your caffeine. Common Grounds will deliver directly to you in the library (The Grove and 4th Floor) between 7 - 11pm through Finals Week.

Simply download the Tapingo app on your smart phone, follow the simple registration instructions, and place your order for delivery to the library.

New Mobile Device Charging Kiosk on Library's 4th Floor

The Meriam Library has installed a KwikBoost mobile device charging kiosk on the 4th floor, just north of the public elevators.  The full-speed, energy-efficient, multi-device kiosk has eight charging cables in two bundles, and services most mobile devices, including: iPhones, iPads and Android products.

Westlaw has a new look! The Westlaw interface has been updated and re-branded as WestlawNext.

The Meriam Library subscribes to the Campus Version of WestlawNext which provides the content legal students need to become proficient in legal research.
