Ever wonder why social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter are free? Why does fake news travel 6 times faster than news that is true? Join us for a student workshop to learn the answers to these questions and to better understand our news consumption and social media behaviors. We will also go over how our psychology makes us vulnerable to believing and sharing fake news. Students will discuss and learn digital media literacy techniques by completing a social media activity. By participating in this workshop, students will be added to a raffle for a chance to win one of three $50 gift cards to the Wildcat Bookstore. Students will also have the opportunity to win $10 Starbucks eGift cards by participating in an optional ten-minute survey. We hope to see you there!

Workshop Days and Times:

  • Monday 3/29 @ 6-7:30pm
  • Tuesday 3/30 @ 12-1:30pm
  • Friday 4/2 @ 1-2:30pm
