The Research Commons is located on the first floor of the Meriam Library.
In the Research Commons students can meet with a librarian to get research help, meet and collaborate with fellow students, or study independently. There are desktop computers, which are all connected to the black and white printer in the Grove.
Library faculty and staff also host library events in the Research Commons to promote library sense of place, promote Meriam Library services, and library collections.
Policies
- Reservation of the space is limited to Meriam Library faculty, staff, and students.
- The Research Commons may not be scheduled for meetings, classes, or events for departments, organizations, or individuals outside of the Meriam Library Department without the express approval of the Head of Library Research, Instruction, and Outreach or the Dean of Meriam Library. Requests must be made at least two weeks in advance. Reservation requests may be denied during times of heavy use of the space by students.
- The space is subject to the Meriam Library Public Use Policy. The library expects students to respectfully share the space with their colleagues. We reserve the right to ask disruptive students to leave or modify their behavior.
