Meriam Library is hosting a community altar in the Research Commons on the first floor, coordinated by Stefani Baldivia, our Equity and Outreach Librarian. The altar will be set up Sunday, October 27, and deconstructed Saturday, November 16.
If you would like to participate in the community altar, we ask that you bring:
A photograph of your loved one(s). We will scan your original and make a paper copy to be placed in a frame.
If you’d like, please feel free to also bring:
A letter to your loved one in a sealed envelope (which will remain private and will also be returned to you). This letter is an opportunity for you to share reminiscences in celebration of good times you have shared and for positive reflection on the memory of loved ones.
An object that reminds you of your loved one (this can be a simple box of crayons, or ticket stub from a movie). This item does not require explanation from you why it is special, it is meant only to inspire good thoughts of happy times shared by you and your loved ones.
If you wish to participate, please bring your contributions to the Circulation Desk on the first floor, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 pm. We will provide a manilla envelope in which to place your items. Please write your name and Chico State ID number on the envelope so we can contact you when your items are ready to be returned. The items will be returned to participants during the third and fourth weeks of November.
If you have any questions, please contact Stefani Baldivia.
