In furthering its educational mission, the Meriam Library maintains a number of channels for digital signage and displays. 

In keeping with the Meriam Library’s educational and cultural mission, the content and workmanship of displays should be of good quality that follows Meriam Library’s internal style and content recommendations.

This policy establishes guidelines for the use of library outreach channels, such as library monitors, to ensure they effectively promote library resources, services, and events to our student-centered community.

Library monitors and similar digital outreach platforms are valuable tools for enhancing awareness and supporting student success. This policy limits the content displayed on these channels to library-focused messaging in alignment with Meriam Library’s mission.

Library monitors may be used exclusively to promote the following:

  • Library Events and Programs

Events organized, hosted, or sponsored by Meriam Library, such as workshops, speaker events, study sessions, and outreach activities that support academic success, literacy, and engagement with library services.

  • Library Resources and Services

Information about resources, services, or tools available through Meriam Library, including online databases, study spaces, research assistance, and library technology. Content should aim to improve awareness and utilization of library services that support student learning and success.

  • Library Collections

Highlights library collections, including new additions, seasonal features, themed collections, special archives, and digital resources, which are integral to academic research and student interests.

  • Content Limitations:

Meriam Library monitors are not to be used to display non-library-related messaging, such as:

  • Promotions for events or services unaffiliated with Meriam Library.
  • Commercial advertisements or sponsorship messages.
  • General campus news or unrelated institutional announcements.

Content Management:

Library staff responsible for content creation and management on the monitors will ensure all displayed materials align with this policy and Meriam Library’s mission. Any exceptions must be approved by Meriam Library Public Affairs and Communications Specialist, Ann Wilson, in advance.
