What do you know about Library of Congress Subject Headings?
Did you know Dartmouth College students lobbied Congress in 2016 to change the standardized terminology used by their university (and universities across America) from the term "i****** aliens" to "Undocumented immigrants"? Even though the American Library Association supported the change, Republican Congressmembers rejected the students' petition.
Join us to watch the documentary film which follows the Dartmouth students as they journey to Washington to petition Congress for the change. The Dream Center and Meriam Library are collaborating to screen the documentary film about "libraries, labels, and activism" October 18th from 5-6:30pm.
There will be a panel discussion with campus community members immediately following the film and free snacks for attendees. Learn more about the panel and this complex topic at the event research companion guide: https://libguides.csuchico.edu/cts_film_screening
