Workshop 4: “What Is a Thesis/Project?” will introduce the student to the culminating activity of their graduate education, the thesis or project, which has terrified students for years. This workshop will discuss the differences between the Thesis and Project, and help students decide which option is best for their personal interests.

Master's Thesis / Project Writing Workshop III

Workshop 3: “The Hero’s Journey—How to Write a Statement of Purpose” will teach students the art of writing an essay for graduate school admission, a letter of intent that will make him or her stand out from all the other applicants.

Master's Thesis / Project Writing Workshop II

Workshop 2: “Writing for the GRE” will cover all aspects of the Analytical and Argumentative Writing portion of the GRE. We will learn how to write for this particular audience, discuss the scoring guide, look at prompts, benchmarks, and comments. Finally, you will we be given writing tips designed for the specific and arduous task of writing for a standardized test.

Master's Thesis / Project Writing Workshop I

Workshop 1: “Paragraph Island” will break down the inner workings of the paragraph. We will go old-school and revisit syntax and discuss the role of punctuation—chiefly, the comma, the semicolon, and the colon. Also, we will discuss the SEE paragraph. We will also explore the art of “Revision for Concision,” and illustrate ways to edit and put a nice shine on each paragraph.

De-Stress in the Library

The end of the semester is fast approaching—papers and projects are due, oh no here come finals, and the pressure is on.

Once again you can stop by the second floor of Meriam Library where we can help you relax and recharge. Come to the 2nd floor at the top of the steps to enjoy some free and fun activities. A table will be stocked with a variety of items including games, puzzles, stickers, buttons, paper, color markers and coloring pages.
