3rd floor closure: Summer and Fall 2023

The Meriam Library is excited to announce the 2nd phase of the library lighting and HVAC project which is being funded by state and campus deferred maintenance. This project will take approximately 7 months from June 2023 to January 2024. The last date to access the stacks without permission is May 19. From May 22-26 please speak with a student assistant on the 1st floor of the library to access the book stacks on 3rd.

 

How do I get books?

During the 3rd floor closure, books from the main collection will be attained from other libraries via InterLibrary Services.

To Request Books from OneSearch:

1. Search OneSearch for books

2. Sign in:

 

3. Once signed in, the request options are displayed:

 

4. Select "Get It" and the library will requst the print title or a scanned copy of the chapter(s) from another library.

5. You will receive an email when your title is ready to pick up (3-7 business days) or chapters(s) are ready for download.

Can I check out books on 1st, 2nd, and 4th?

Books on these floors are still available. For summer, they can be requested. For fall, you can access them yourself on these floors.

 

Faculty & Staff: my books were renewed?

If you had books due between June 2023 and January 2024 from the Main or Folio Collections, your loans have been extended or renewed.

 

Where can I find electronic resources like ebooks and articles? 

Many of our resources are available electronically, including ebooks and articles in OneSearch and articles from our databases. View tutoiral on searching for ebooks in OneSearch.

 

Where will silent study space be located?

Space on the 2nd floor will be designated for silent study. Please respect the need for silent study in the library.

 

Will Special Collections be open?

 

No, however in the fall, depending on the construction timeline, select item retrieval may be possible, but it is not certain. For fall availability, please contact the Special Collections staff to inquire about materials at least 2 weeks in advance.

What will be open in Summer 2023?

  • The 1st floor will be open for study space, printing, and computer access.
  • Ask-A-Librarian is available via chat
  • The Student Print Center will be available for electronic submissions and drop off/pick up at the Circulation Desk on the 1st floor. Email Matt Torst for more information on printing via the Student Print Center.
  • The Makerspace will also be available via appointment.
  • Request books to be picked up in the lockers, Tech Lending is available for in-person checkout
  • To access to First Year Experience, Hononrs, Faculty Development, and other building partners as a guest, let our student workers know where you are headed and we will assist with access to the upper floors via the elevator or stairs.
  • The Rose Garden Room in Faculty Development is open for Faculty and Graduate students.
