The Meriam Library is pleased to offer access to historical local newspapers on Digital Reel. All available Butte County newspapers on microfilm have been scanned and digitized and are now online. The content includes a variety of titles beginning with the Butte Record (1851) and continuing with The Chico Enterprise and Chico Record through December 1922. Issues later than 1922 are still available on microfilm.
No more messing with temperamental microfilm readers and printers. Digital Reel allows for easy browsing of newspapers from any computer. Images can be saved in .PDF format and printed or emailed.
